Gary M. Gomer, Ph.D., LCSW is the founder and director of Learning Works which develops programs that support and enhance learning communities.  During the past nine years he has focused his attention on the Breadmaking-in-the-Schools Project that is designed to build community and foster the love of learning.  Known in the schools as "Professor Bread," Dr. Gomer offers workshops and a multi-media assembly program that have reached thousands of students in public schools in the New York Metropolitan area.  His popular school-based parent workshops have introduced many families to the joy of making bread at home.

As a result of his work in the schools, Dr. Gomer was invited to give the keynote address at the annual meeting of the Home Baking Association in 2000.  His efforts in inner city schools have also received generous support from Hodgson Mill, Inc. which supplies all the high quality flours and yeast used in his workshops.

Dr. Gomer is a certified teacher (N-6) and licensed clinical social worker with extensive experience in inner city mental health and school settings.  He holds his doctorate in philosophy from Teachers College - Columbia University and has taught psychology and humanities courses on the college level.
